Pickleball Opening – Limited Basis

The pickleball courts will be opened for play on Monday, June 8th subject to our adherence to a set of guidelines. These rules don’t meet everybody’s wishes but will enable us to begin play again. It is important for everyone to follow them.

Here’s what you need to do in order to play:

  1. Use only approved paddles, and balls obtained from the club. A household can be assigned one ball from the club. Additional balls will be available for sale by the club. Three compliant balls cost $16.98 from Pickleball Central (with shipping, tax & the club discount). You can purchase balls for $3.50 each (billed to your house number)! If you have purchased balls in the past they cannot be used, until they are approved. The reason for this is to ensure compliance with our approval from the City of San Jose. More info on balls is in this form.
  2. Important. The individual signing up for use of the court is responsible for ensuring that these guidelines are utilized while you are at the courts. It has taken us a long time to get permission to play, and one or two individuals who violate the guidelines could result in our losing the ability to use the courts again.
  3. The guidelines below contain an extend list of requirements that we expect all of our members will continue to follow. Obviously, they are there for all of our safety. We are delighted that that we can begin to play again.
  4. Players will sign up for courts utilizing the online reservation system – https://villagestennisclub.org/book_a_court/. Instructions for how to use the online reservation system are on our website.
There must be at least 30 minutes of open time between reservations to allow players to exit and enter the courts without traffic through the gates. If you reserve 9 am, then stop play at 10 am. Reserve play at 10:30am, then stop play at 11:30., etc.
Instructions for signing up are here: Pickleball Scheduler
  5. Only players from one or two households allowed on the court at a time. . Example: Pomeranz vs David Cook (two households not living together) OR (Mike and Julie Walias vs Sadna and Norm Krishna (4 players but only 2 households, must be on opposite sides of the court).
  6. No Open Play or Guests allowed, Villages residents only.

Full Villages rules for play are below, we are required to abide by them, or else the courts will be shut down. Please help us be successful!
